| What Is FIRST? |
|
|
In today’s society many children grow up thinking that the only interesting careers out there are professional sports or show business. Most students do not even consider the range of fascinating professions in the fields of science and technology. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989 in order to get the youth of America to do just that. The original competition had 28 teams and was based out of a high school gym in New Hampshire. Today it reaches hundreds of thousands of students all over the world.
