Franklin City-Wide Cleanup |
For the past 10 years, our team participated in Franklin’s city-wide cleanup. We helped pick up trash and debris along a quarter mile stretch of road in front of our high school. Not only is this helping our community by helping to keep it clean, it also showed us how quickly every little wrapper and piece of trash can add up. Keep Franklin Clean- Don’t Litter!! |

Red Cross Training |
In May 2010, a group of our team members acted as accident victims as a training exercise for Red Cross First Alert trainees. They acted out scenarios in which they had various injuries ranging from dislocated joints to broken bones. The trainees had a chance to show how they would act in a real world situation. Recycling Drive |
The Saber Spirit Club hosted a recycling drive, with the organization Action Recyclers, at Franklin High School in May of 2010. They asked us to help break down electronics, in order to get the most amount of money, and we quickly accepted. Several team members and mentors spent the day cutting wire and disassembling electronics and other metallic objects. |

Helping Students in Africa |
In 2009, a student and a mentor from our team visited a school in Namibia, Africa and made a generous donation of school supplies. We also raised money to purchase textbooks. There are over 500 students (K-4 through 10) attending this school in the rural and impoverished area of Namibia. There are not enough books for all the students, 5 very old computers for the entire school and they lack the basic necessities that we sometimes take for granted. The school has officially named us as a partner in their goal to improve the education in Namibia. |
